We've Partnered with Plan International Canada

We’re extremely excited to announce our new partnership with Plan International Canada! Plan International is an independent child rights and humanitarian organization committed to children living a life free of poverty, violence and injustice in developing countries. You've probably heard of Plan International’s Because I am a Girl movement, a global movement to transform power relations so that girls everywhere can learn, lead, decide and thrive.

This year, we've chosen to raise awareness & donate to a specific project championed by Plan Canada that helps girls in the remote community of Hatibandha, Bangladesh.

— Bangladesh is one of the poorest countries in the world. Because of this poverty, child marriage is a huge problem there. This tiny country—slightly larger than the state of New York—has a population of over 160 million people with an average nominal GDP of just $1,600 USD. Statistics estimate that nearly 50% of brides in Bangladesh are married before their 18th birthday—and close to 20% are married before they turn 15 years old.

Hatibandha Project

Hatibhandha, located near the country's northern tip, is one of Bangladesh's most remote and underdeveloped communities. Sadly, floods and monsoons are common here. Houses are damaged, crops and livestock are lost, and the already limited resources of community members are quickly depleted. Prolonged school closures only make matters worse, especially for girls who are often married off in desperate times.

Plan Canada helps these girls get access to clean water, electricity and healthcare, while continuing their education. You can read more about the project here and how your purchase helps girls in Hatibandha reach their full potential.
